38 Days of Giving

Founded in 1982, Playmakers has been a leader in providing entertaining and educational programming for Louisiana’s youth.  Since the beginning of the pandemic, Playmakers has had to cancel or severely limit all of our programming including our Summer, Fall, and Winter musicals, Fall and Summer Library Tours, and our Educational Camps and Classes.  This has resulted in a loss in revenue totaling over $100,000.  We are now facing an uncertain future that will most likely see all programming postponed until 2021.  And while our staff is hard at work coming up with new and innovative strategies to continue theatre in these difficult times, we need your support more than ever.

Currently Playmakers has an annual reach of over 20,000 Louisianans and creates on average 100 jobs for local artists.   As we move forward we have made it our goal to grow these number by expanding upon our programming and increasing the number of first-time patrons to our productions. Playmakers has long been a part of the cultural fabric that makes up Baton Rouge’s arts community. As Louisiana’s only professional non-profit theatre for young audiences, we feel it is our duty to continue to offer one-of-a-kind theatrical experiences while also providing a unique creative outlet for the youth in our community.

The impact of Playmakers is generational.  The children who sit down front on our trademark carpet square and enjoy live theatre for the very first time become the mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, and grandparents who introduce the arts to a new generation.  Playmakers has also had a thirty-seven year history of building the next wave of theatre artist and educators.  We are often recent graduates first professional credit, which so many have used as a stepping stone to careers in local classrooms, regional theatres, and even Broadway .

To celebrate our 38th Season, Playmakers is announcing our 38 Days of Giving campaign!  Beginning on September 23th and ending on October 30th, each donation of $5 enters you for one chance to win some truly amazing prizes.  Donate $10 get 2, donate $100 get 20!
